Slab pottery was my favorite thing we have done in art now. The one thing I hated was how dry my hands got. I enjoyed when Mrs. Haggerty showed me the kiln and how it worked, it was like a backstage pass! I also enjoyed picking out what glaze to paint onto our bisque wear. My first piece was a cup we made, this first piece was difficult because the texture was extremely moist making it very easy to indent. We learned if the clay was bone dry aka greenware and hadn't been fired yet you COULDN'T glaze it until it was fired. Once the clay was leather hard we could begin carving it. I really enjoyed the slab pottery.
