Tape Art was really fun, and so satisfying to look at once it was complete. It was a spin off project from our one point perspective unit. The inspiration for our tape project was from an online tumbling block piece. We added the orange and white washy tape so our tumbling blocks would really pop. Our tape project was successful and really fun to work on.When we started working on calligraphy we were practicing the art of beautiful handwriting. At first it was really hard but after many practice runs I was able to get the hang of it. It was awesome to add color to my final piece, once it was complete it really made it pop. I found that taking it really slowly and not having too much ink in my pen allowed me a better result. Overall I like calligraphy and learned a lot about writing beautifully. The inventor of linear perspective was Brunelleschi. He was credited with the invention, sometime in the 1400's. One point perspective is creating a piece of art work from only one view, drawing exactly what you can see and what you cannot. I first sketched an ocean scene with a pier jetting out and a roof over on part of it. The further towards the middle you look the smaller things get because its supposed to be like your looking far away. After the sketch was complete I added water color and attempted to water color a sunset. For my art history project, I did a study and presentation on Andy Warhol. Through researching this artist I learned he was crazy and definitely weird, but very fabulous!Slab pottery was my favorite thing we have done in art now. The one thing I hated was how dry my hands got. I enjoyed when Mrs. Haggerty showed me the kiln and how it worked, it was like a backstage pass! I also enjoyed picking out what glaze to paint onto our bisque wear. My first piece was a cup we made, this first piece was difficult because the texture was extremely moist making it very easy to indent. We learned if the clay was bone dry aka greenware and hadn't been fired yet you COULDN'T glaze it until it was fired. Once the clay was leather hard we could begin carving it. I really enjoyed the slab pottery.I loved this project. Using the watercolor was very soothing for me, also I liked that you couldn't really mess up. No matter what you did as long as you stuck to the color scheme it looked good. I wasn't sure about adding the butterfly on top at first, but, in the end I was really satisfied. My favorite part of this project was the final result, it didn't look exactly like me but I felt really proud of myself. I would fix my jaw line if I could do it over. I learned how to draw only box by box and cross hatching for shading instead of smudging. My ability to draw surprised me I had very low expectations for myself on this project and I exceeded them. The concept of a notan is to use black and white to contrast each other and balance each other off. Before doing this assignment I had used an x-acto knife for cutting stationary and boxes. I approached this assignment by starting off with simple cuts and worked my way up to more complex cuts. I think my piece was successful because I'm happy with how the final product looks, and the details I went into.I chose the interaction for my two hands, by looking up hand relationships on google and found one of a man and wife holding hands on their wedding day. I used techniques from upside down man and, shaded hands. My favorite part of this artwork is the sequins on the ring, so you can tell its definitely a wedding ring. My least favorite part is the wrists because i wasn't sure how to end them. |
